Hardee's School of the Soldier
The North Carolina Drill Manual (1862) incorporates General William Hardee's "School of the Soldier", defining the basics for drill and deportment for soldiers on both sides. Simplified and updated from Scott's and Casey's more arcane and (some say) convoluted manuals, Hardee's presents the basics for the citizen soldier.
Hardee's Instructions for Skirmishers
The Instruction for Skirmishers, also taken from General Hardee's manual for Infantry Tactics, provides the basics for forming, deploying and rallying skirmishers against the enemy forces.
